The terms Ghazwat and Saraya literally means a campaign or a movement, it is like a cruise or walk towards a place to make sure there is no trouble and threat. They were of two types: Ghazwat and Saraya. Ghazwat are those in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) himself participated and Saraya are those in which he did not participate but other Muslims did.
In modern terminology, these are named by people as battles and wars but this is wrong because only few campaigns resulted in battles, yes only few of them.
Total Ghazwat and Saraya are counted to be 82 at their maximum that took place within 8 years from 2 Hijri to 9 Hijri.
The number 82 does not mean that 82 independent missions took place but this include every minor and major missions including those which were part of the same mission, for example Uhud is the name of first day battle and Hamar-ul-asad is the name of second day, in which the enemy was chased, but both are counted. So due to this doubt counting the number of missions is increased.
Muslims did not invade any single tribe or group by themselves, rather all the invasions and missions were in the self-defense, in the answer of the attacks by non-Muslims.
Even if it is assumed that all the 82 campaigns were violence-based battles and all of these were started by Muslims, then the numbers tell the entire story:
- Number of people killed was approximately 1018 in these 82 battles, making average of 12 in a single.
- Imprisoned were 6564 of which 6000 is of a single battle of Hunain, making average of 7 people in 81 battles.
- Out of those 6564 people being captives, 6348 were freed by the Prophet (peace be upon him) due to his mercy and kindness without any condition, 2 were killed based on their previous crimes and remaining 215 are unknown, either they were freed or they accepted Islam and lived with Muslims.
Do these statistics make any sense for a group forcing people to accept Islam in a country like Arab which was at its peak of brutality at that time? If we compare these statistics with other civilizations and wars beings fought in the world in which millions of people were killed brutally then the fair conclusion nothing but that revolution brought by Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a bloodless and peaceful revolution and a miraculous one too. A point of thinking for the unbelievers.
Riyadh: The U.S. Harvard University, one of the most prestigious institutions in the world, has placed a Quran verse at the entrance of its faculty of law.
Described by the institution as one of the greatest expressions of justice in history, Verse 135 of Surah Al Nisa (The Women Chapter) is dedicated to humanity as the best expression defending and articulating justice, moroccoworldnews.com said in a report.
The verse from Holy Quran is:
“O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm in justice, witnesses for Allah, even if it be against yourselves or parents and relatives. Whether one is rich or poor, Allah is more worthy of both. So follow not [personal] inclination, lest you not be just. And if you distort [your testimony] or refuse [to give it], then indeed Allah is ever, with what you do, Acquainted.” (Surat An Nisa 4:135)
According to the Saudi Arabic language daily Ajel, a Saudi Student at Harvard published the picture of the verse on his Twitter page.
“I noticed that the verse was posted by the faculty of law, which described it as one of the greatest expressions for justice in history,” Abdullah Jumma said.
Justice quotations were selected among 150 contributions from law school faculty, staff and students. Yet, the three unanimously appreciated and displayed at the faculty entrance are quotes taken from St. Augustine, the Holy Quran and the Magna Carta.
According to the official website of the university, The Words of Justice exhibition is a clear sign of humanity’s craving for fairness on this earth.
At present, visitors to Harvard, researchers in particular, have the chance to identify themselves with the best articulations of justice since time immemorial.
Harvard University, the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States, was founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1636.
My open challenge to anyone to refute this:
1. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be on him) did not kill any innocent non-Muslim ever.
2. Every battle fought by Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be on him) was in self defense.
3. No campaign of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be on him) was meant to convert anyone.
4. No battle took place in which Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be on him) was the aggressor.
5. The revolution by Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be on him) was a bloodless revolution.
It hurts. It really does, not only because what has been depicted in the film, but also to know how cheap-thinkers its makers and its supporters are. As a Muslim, I care, off course I do as the Muslims around the world who are protesting, some peacefully, some violently. As regarding the violent protest, I do not support this wholeheartedly but then may be, may be there is no other way to get their attention to block this film.
The U.S is responsible for this (because they can release instructions to remove the film immediately), they should block this film from Google as it is released in their country. The political figures condemning this film will not be enough within their duties. The U.S should at least block the film, if not arresting and taking action against its makers.
The film is hideous and depicts not only un-true events but also points out that the makers are trying to create a rage in the Muslim community and they themselves do not believe in the events shown in the film.
My peaceful protest is that people around the world condemn the film, not only because it hurts Muslim community, but also because the intentions behind the film are clearly to malign Islam and Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). And Google should remove the video immediately and ban further related uploads.
Prophet Muhammad, the prophet who is clean, who is clean from all the sins, he is the prophet of Almighty for all mankind till the Judgment Day. May Peace and Blessings of Almighty Allah be on Prophet Muhammad and his family.
Update: Feb-26-2014: News around here is that Google has ordered to remove anti-Islamic film from YouTube.
Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam (may peace and blessings of Almighty Allah be on him) is the only person in the human history who brought a complete revolution in Arabia. There is no such example of the revolution that Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) brought in the entire human history. Many historians of 20thCentury accept this fact including Michael Hart in his book “The 100”. In this book, he categorizes 100 people who have brought a great revolution and left a mark in the history. Even though he is a Christian, he puts Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at number 1 position and Jesus (peace be upon him) at number 3. He says:
“He was the only man in history who was supremely successful in both religious and secular levels.“ (Dr. Michael Hart, “The 100”, New York, 1978).
M.N. Roy who was the member of Communist International, in his book “Historical Role of Islam” clearly and in much detail says that the greatest revolution in the human history was the revolution which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) brought which changed everything.
H.G Wells in his book “Concise history of the world” criticized the different aspects of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s life. There is no doubt that he had very much hatred for the Prophet, but when he quotes the Prophet’s Last Sermon, he writes:
“Although the sermons of human freedom, fraternity and equality were said before. We find a lot of these sermons in Jesus of Nazareth, but it must be admitted that it was Mohammad who for the first time in history established a society based on these principles.”
These are the words of the enemy of Islam in 20thCentury.
Any person who knows the history is bound to accept, he cannot deny.
He is the person who made such a revolution because Almighty Allah was with him; this is the evidence that he is the Prophet of God. Being the last Prophet sent for the guidance of every human being till eternity, he had to leave a mark on the entire human history; he had to be the shining example and thus, Almighty Allah made Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) an example not only for Muslims but also a sign for the non-Muslims. He didn’t just leave his mark but also left a miracle, The Glorious Quran, which is for the guidance for whole of humanity till eternity. This book had to be preserved in order to be the guide for everyone, that’s why Almighty Allah Himself holds the responsibility of preserving it. Almighty Allah made His last book and His last Prophet, both, the example and sign for the human kind.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is not only the greatest person in human history, but he is also the only man who has been loved and respected most by his companions (may peace be upon all of them) and relatives. When you read his life history, you will find many examples and stories of love and compassion showed by the companions, that we see for no one else in entire human history. His enemies also witnessed it before their eyes and accepted that he is indeed the most respectable and the most loving by his people.
Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) created a society based on Islamic principles; he did not only teach these principles and laws but he practically operated and applied them in the society. The lives of Arabs were completely changed. Every part of life was changed; changes in political, social, economical, judicial and educational sectors were taken place. In other words, Islam was completely applied and followed by people. And this type of complete revolution in which everything is changed has no other example.
Moreover, this glorious and holy revolution came in just 23 years of time period. In these 23 years, approximately 81 ghazwaat (campaigns or movements) took place in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was involved in 27 of them and only few campaigns converted into battles or war. Majority of the campaigns were without fighting. And in these 81 campaigns, only 1018 people were killed, out of which 259 were Muslims and 759 were non-Muslims.
Such a huge revolution and only few people were killed! This revolution can be said as a Bloodless Revolution. It is just like a miracle and this is the evidence that God was the helper of Muslims.
